Abstract
Performance measurement in the humanitarian sector is a somewhat under-researched area. To our knowledge, there seems to be a lack of a supplier evaluation framework for humanitarian organisations to categorise their critical suppliers - strategic and bottleneck suppliers related to high supply risk purchases. As such, this study seeks to answer three research questions regarding the current state of supplier evaluation in the sector; challenges faced when evaluating suppliers and the key criteria for assessing strategic and bottleneck suppliers following the Kraljic Matrix. The research aimed to develop a conceptual framework for evaluating high-supply risk suppliers.
